Summer Youth Program

The youth program runs for 10 weeks during the summer months. In the Summer of 2011, Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless with help from the Regional Food Bank provided over 1300 healthy lunches to our hungry little neighbors!
The Summer Youth program provides educational and recreational activities for the neighboorhood children. This year, some of the highlihgts from the summer included:
-
A visit from reptile adventure
-
Ice Cream Socials
-
A weird science week, where the children made goo
-
A visit from the music mobile
-
A shopping spree in our Grassroot Giver's Community Store
-
Bookbag Giveaway to get kids excited about school
-
End of the year Pizza Party

Thanks to several sponsors, backpacks filled with school supplies were distributed to the children at the end of the program. The program served between 15 and 50 children each day. Participating youth are from the Arbor Hill & Sheridan Hollow neighborhood. The program has been created as a result of many unsupervised children in the area who are going without lunches during the summer months.
